Growing Your Brand Through Team Building and Outsourcing

As most of us know, our most valuable resource is our time and for an independent artist it can be very difficult to find the time to make music, create brand media, do marketing and promotion while trying to grow your brand. Not to mention the skills you have to develop to create the digital resources and perform marketing that is actually effective.

This is a huge reason why brands like Roadetrix Records, artist managers, and independent labels exist. Typically the reasons you would want to build out a team stems from lack of experience in a certain skill such as marketing or graphic design, having an expert on your team can be a great asset that save you both time and money.

So how do you start building the right team? Well it starts with building personal relationships with others and having enough self awareness to know where you are lacking. For instance many artists I work with personally started out by building a relationship with me and has grown into a partnership where they deliver the music and I deliver the promotional actives for the song which benefits all parties involved.

But what if you don’t want to give up royalties? Or maybe you are doing great in most areas of your music business and don’t need a fulltime team member? This is when outsourcing can come in handy. You can hire freelancers to help with one time projects like digital marketing, web design, graphic design and much more.

I would personally recommend using Fivver to hire freelancers as I have used the platform many times in the past and even used it to have our cover artwork (located at the top of this page) designed for a good price which can help you grow your brand.

At the end of the day you need to practice self awareness to know the needs of your business the best. As independent music makers you are doing everything yourselves, and not every aspect of your business is going to be at peak performance, so build a team of experts so you can focus on what matters.
